So you thought I was MIA over the holidays and in January with the travels and job changes... Well February has brought on a whole new challenge...aka...sicker than a dog! So two weeks ago my 2 yo tested positive for the Adenovirus....and guess who came down with it the next week. Yup that would be me...so new job and out(but able to work from home) 2 days on my second week. Oh but wait it didn't end there. Just yesterday morning I woke up at 4am in order to spend the next 6 hours praying to the porcelain gods. There was NO going to WORK and NO working from home. I am sure my boss just thinks I am the bee's knees by now. The Norovirus has been running rampant but my husband thinks it was food poisoning. Though he was sick in bed last Friday and part of Saturday. I am just so glad that I spent the entire weekend cleaning the house, especially the toilets. Sorry, I am not ready to "talk" (type) about food yet. Let's just say, I had very little yesterday. Thoug...

UGHHHH I am sick...I hate being sick. And it's the virus that my little "petri dish of a kid" tested positive for right before I started my new job. I have not exercised in over 5 days, I have been trying hard to eat on plan but still using the BRAT diet. A lot of chicken soup and toast with very few vegetables...just can't stomach them. At least the shakes made hot are soothing on my throat. Its weird though. Some hours I am starving and can eat a regular meal with no problem...and then other parts of the day tea and honey are all I can handle. It comes in waves. Well enough of my bitching...we all get sick from time to time. It's whether I sit back and feel sorry for myself and gorge on comfort foods...or if I still try to eat decently, while getting some nutrition. I did have a terrible cupcake for said Petri Dish's 2nd birthday. I don't know why I thought THAT would be a good idea! That amount of sugar makes me feel like crap...and I know that ahea...

Third day at my new job...and was out to lunch with my boss and one of her peers. We went to a place that had a lot of what I would call "bar food." I had the steak and side salad. It came with au gratin potatoes on the side...but I ate 5 bites and then put the rest of the dish to the side. Counted the potatoes as my starch, the "au gratin" part and the salad dressing as my fats for the day. I thought I had done pretty good...but later realized(after I had dinner, no less) that the steak was probably WAY too big. More like an 10 or 12 oz-er than a 5 or 6 oz-er. Dinner was chicken breast and brussel sprouts with vinegar reduction(freebee). Final "meal" was shake with FF cool whip (pronounced WHHHIP like Stewie from Family Guy) from and can/spray FF whipped topping (2 freebees) and a bar...(which I will only eat now after I nuke it in the microwave for like 13-15 seconds....decadent). So I over ate on my protein again for the plan I am on...and boy...

So I have been MIA for quite some time. The Holidays... Left one job... Went on a vacation to Sedona, AZ... Had/have a sick kiddo... Started a new job... So I have let life take over...and the scale shows it. Now I really shouldn't get too down on myself. I gained over 3 lbs...but I drank SO MUCH wine on my trip that I am very surprised I didn't gain 10lbs. So the last 4-5days, I have been hard core about getting in my 10,000 steps. And trying my damnedest to stay on plan nutritionally. One thing that I have tried to tell other people...but no one really gets it..is that splurging doesn't show up on the scale the "next day." I got back from Sedona and the scale the next morning was almost exactly as when I left. But the next day it was up a lb. And then 3 days later it was up 2 more lbs...so the splurging I had done is Sedona had taken about 5 whole days to show up on the scale. When I did weight watchers a few years ago, they said this is how weight gain/...

Why am I so hung up on what day it is...I need to just stop blogging until I hit one year and then restart counting. Food: YOu already heard about my BBQ lunch yesterday. When I got home from running errands, my hubby had made fish and green beans. I hadn't had a starch yet, so I had some of the kid's sweet potato fries. (I know I know...sabotaging myself). But I counted it as a starch and a fat. I think I forgot my fruit again yesterday...but I remember eating some of the kiddo's fruit off their leftovers. Not a whole serving. Exercise: Met my hubby at a running store yesterday to get properly fitted for some new shoes. Did you know that shoes are fitted a size larger than your other shoes?? I did not know this. Just an FYI incase you are normally like me and buy what is on sale without a sales person. I usually wear a 9 or 9.5 and he put me in a 10...when I complained that I was sliding forward and bumping my toe on the front he said when you put them on you tap/bump ...

I never went back to find the week I lost in my count...but I am 5 days short of 1 year. Challenges: I am still in post holiday sugar craving mode. I said I would just throw out the crap that is left in the house and my kids about had a melt down.So it is all still there...but I hope while I am gone it gets eatten/thrown out. I have stayed away from it for the most part...still snagging a bite or a couple of M&Ms here or there... But I can tell on Sunday I went through a major sugar withdrawal headache. So I guess that is a good sign. Since I put my notice in at work it has been lunch outs everyday saying goodbye to all my awesome coworkers. Today it was a BBQ place that I picked solely because I knew they had an AWESOME salad using BBQ sauce as the dressing. But of COURSE today when we arrive for lunch they have a sign up that the truck delivery is late and they are out of lettuce....UGGHHH. One of my coworkers who was also watching his carbs just gave up and got what he wo...

So somewhere along the line my day count got off...I started on Jan 13th, 2016 and my next day count for Jan 4th, 2017 is 365...so somehow I gained a week somewhere:) I feel that with the exception of 5 or 6 M&Ms last night, I stayed on plan. I still haven't gotten all the crap out of the house. I feel like it will be such a waste. I need to find a way to donate or create a bird feeder with old cookies...but then I wonder if that is safe and the best idea to encourage other rodents into the backyard.
